The felony cost of kid abuse and neglect accuses Holloway of endangering her daughter, who was driving in the backseat. Holloway had been in Las Vegas for about one week before the crash and was living in a auto , officials said Monday.

The officer, Jason Van Dyke, was arrested earlier this month after a viral video – obtained by the media after a court challenge – showed him shooting the 17-year-old 16 times during a confrontation on a Chicago street in 2014. He wore a gray suit for the hearing before Cook County Circuit Judge James Brown, who set arraignment for December 29. The release of those images triggered protests, forced the resignation of the city’s police chief and put the entire Police Department under a wide-ranging civil rights investigation by the U.S. Department of Justice. It was not until uproar over the video of McDonald being shot 16 times as he apparently walked away from the police that the federal Department of Justice launched an investigation of civil rights issues in the city’s police department.
