In a rare move, the Broadcast Film Critics Association has voted to add “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” to its lineup for Best Picture at the Critics Choice’ Awards, bringing the total number of nominees from 10 to 11.

“The Force Awakens” has managed to evoke comparisons among fans to George Lucas’ original trilogy of films with a mere 1% negative reactions on Twitter.

Director J.J. Abrams is finding it harder than he thought to let go of the controls of the Millennium Falcon. John Boyega’s Finn and Daisy Ridley’s Rey both look great, but also slightly more mundane than some of their counterparts. Is Star Wars just one franchise among many, or is there something that sets it apart?

This sounds way too much like that guy that complains about every sequel or a reboot, saying “It’s not as good as the original”, when the goal of Abrams was never to be better than the originals. The antagonist here is Kylo Ren, a Jedi knight who’s gone over to the dark side and is now a Commander in The First Order, a spin-off of the evil Galactic Empire.
