The Force is strong!
J.J. Abrams has admitted he regrets not signing up to direct “Star Wars: Episode VIII” after helming the seventh instalment, “The Force Awakens”. Since then, there has been a 3.5x increase in app installs for these Star Wars-themed apps, as users independently downloaded this content.
These isolated observations certainly have not impacted box office for “The Force” in Italy, where the film has grossed over $10 million to date, in line with expectations, after scoring the country’s top December opening frame ever.
In a poll of more than 1,000 moviegoers conducted by movie-ticket site Fandango.com for USA TODAY, 42% of those who have already seen The Force Awakens will see it again in the theater. All those repeat viewings also add to the value of the Star Wars franchise: “The more you watch a movie, the more it sticks with you”.
So there you have it. It would have been pretty exciting to see Leia get her hands on a lightsaber, but that’s showbiz.
From the beginning of the film, with the classic scrawl which everyone cheered, until the cliffhanging end, everyone seemed enthralled with the new movie.
If you’re still with us, you’ll know that Han Solo is killed by his son Kylo Ren in The Force Awakens. As my girlfriend Meghan Hurley, 42, said, “I love the fact that the next Jedi will be a female”. With the overwhelming popularity of the new Star Wars film, its only reasonable that the new Disney Infinity characters are taking offand theyll probably sell out fast.

The worldwide take is particularly impressive, given that “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” will not open in the booming Chinese market until January 9.
