Another 191 suspects have been charged with offences including obstruction of highways, possession of weapons and attacking security agents, he said.

Defence lawyer Joseph Abood characterized Holloway as distraught. She plans to plead not responsible when the time comes, he stated.

Drug Overdose Deaths Hit A New High in 2014
Most of the deaths related to prescription opioids are in the account of semi-synthetic opioids like oxycodone and hydrocodone. In addition, deaths from overdoses of heroin increased 26 percent, accounting for more than 10,500 deaths in 2014.

The deputy public defender, who represented another driver in a similar crash on the Strip in September 2005, said the defense team needs to see police reports, witness accounts and video before deciding on Holloway’s defense.

Her next appearance is set for January 20 at 8 a.m. PT.

Clark County District Attorney Steve Wolfson has said prosecutors were considering “a great number” of additional charges against Holloway.

Casino and street surveillance video of the crash is “superb” quality, Wolfson said, adding that he believes it clearly shows Holloway’s intentions.

“We can all agree this is a shocking and tragic event”, Abood said. “This is a surprise to everyone. We have plenty of investigating and a whole lot of work to do”.

Valenzuela, 32, of Buckeye, Arizona, was killed and at least 35 people from California, Colorado, Florida, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Washington state, Mexico and Quebec, Canada, were injured. Five victims from the crash are still in the hospital for their injuries, with three in critical condition and two in serious condition.

Holloway is being held in a “medically restricted” jail unit for inmates requiring increased supervision including those on suicide watch.

Authorities say Holloway repeatedly swerved onto a sidewalk packed with tourists in front of the Paris Las Vegas and Planet Hollywood casino-hotels. The video may not be made public until a later court hearing.

Holloway was also charged with child abuse, neglect or endangerment and leaving the scene of an accident. The woman wasn’t harm in the crash, and baby welfare officers are caring for her.

Documents filed Tuesday list the charges against 24-year-old Lakeisha Nicole Holloway, who is due in court Wednesday. She gained honors for overcoming a tough childhood and homelessness to graduate from an alternate highschool in Portland.

She was featured in a 2012 video produced by the nonprofit Portland Opportunities Industrialization Center, which helps at-risk youths with education and job training.

“Today I’m not the same scared girl I used to be”, she said in the video. “I’m a mature younger lady”.

The U.S. Forest Service hired her in 2009 to do administrative work in its Portland office.

County spokesman Erik Pappa said the agency tries to place children with relatives before seeking a foster family. Her blood was drawn after she was taken into custody.

Holloway had been in Las Vegas for a few week, police stated.

“It shows her traveling in traffic with many other cars and then, for whatever reason, making a right turn onto a sidewalk where there were many, many people walking, and her running over people and not stopping and continuing to drive”, Wolfson said of suspect Lakeisha N. Holloway.
