Donald Trump defends Vladimir Putin: ‘I haven’t seen any evidence that he
Putin praised Trump during his annual press conference last week, saying that the former reality show star is “outstanding”, “talented”, and the “absolute front-runner” in the presidential race.

But Trump, whose lead in the polls has grown after a series of inflammatory Islamophobic slurs, called the Russian president’s remarks a “great honour” and described Putin as “a man highly respected within his own country and beyond”. When confronted with Mitt Romney’s twitter site message additionally alleging in that Putin kills reporters & political opponents, Trump again dismissed the claims. “I think it would be a positive thing if Russian Federation and the United States actually got along and they could work to the mutual good of getting rid of ISIS”.
McCain, the 2008 Republican presidential nominee, asserted that Mr. Putin has murdered “people I knew”, Buzzfeed reported.
Russia’s leader is much more calculating than he lets on, experts say, and is probably not as enamored with Trump as it seems. I don’t know in that he has. I’m saying, when you say a man has killed reporters, I’d like you to prove it. And I’m saying it would be a awful thing if it were true. “You’re just saying, he killed reporters”.
“But nobody wants to believe us, nobody wants to believe that we’re not trying to bring the Soviet Union back”, he said.
But, he added, Putin “totally denies that he kills reporters”.
So what if Putin has ordered the killing of journalists and the invasion of Crimea, Trump said Friday, in response to a question from MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough, on “Morning Joe”.
According to the Committee to Protect Journalists, 56 journalists have been killed in Russian Federation since 1992, including at least 23 since Putin took power in 2000.
Trump said: “Isn’t it sort of nice if countries we’re always fighting with maybe we get along with?” At a gathering in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, on Saturday, Trump explained the criticism coming his way from the other Republican candidates: “Now, they’re jealous as hell because he’s not mentioning these people”.
Trump said even if Islamic State videos did surface of his calling for a temporary halt to Muslims entering the country, he would not change his position.
Trump has expressed admiration of Putin in the past. I hear these accusations, but I don’t see any proof by. “I think that’s an asset, not a liability”.

The leading Republican candidate was challenged by host George Stephanopoulos to condemn the killings of journalists, citing the 2006 murder of investigative reporter Anna Politkovskaya, which some activists have long linked to the Russian government.
