Hiddink tells Chelsea players ‘look in the mirror’
Interim boss Guus Hiddink starts work this week as Mourinho’s replacement with a brief to restore morale and move the 15th-placed club up the table. If they don’t have that desire then I will say: “Thank you very much”.

“He had a terrific season past year”, Hiddink said.
Speaking to reporters at his pre-match press conference, as broadcast on the club’s TV channel, he said: “If you look back to last season, you go to this season with targets and aims – the same – but in the Premier League that’s not easy”.
The Serbian full back is one of few players, along with John Terry and John Obi Mikel who were at the club during Hiddink’s previous period in charge, when he led them to an FA Cup win in 2009.
“I shouldn’t be here but I am – that is the reality of the situation and I am glad to be here because I worked here last time with a lot of love for the club. That’s the reality of today’s situation, and I’m glad to be back”. But then we’ll see.
“Tomorrow we see again”.
“We can not ignore what has happened in the recent past, but I asked them and told them to look in the mirror and be hypercritical and give the best for the team”.
He added: “All the big clubs, and the smaller ones, have these specific guys, figures, who can go into whatever they like – coach, ambassador, manager – but they must be given the opportunity to do so”.
The Ivorian is contracted to MLS side Montreal Impact where he spent an extremely successful first season, but is now free as it is off-season in the United States.
Hiddink was quickly drafted in to replace the Portuguese on a deal until the end of the season, and he has warned the squad he will not tolerate a lack of fight. For Chelsea being the big club we are it is unacceptable for us to be in this position.
“Guus Hiddink is a very good coach and I am sure the club are confident about him”. As long as I feel desire, as long as I feel passion [to do the job].

With Hiddink himself having enjoyed a career whereby he hasn’t settled with one team for too long before moving on, somebody fresh will be coming in next summer you imagine and we all know that Pep Guardiola’s whereabouts are still unknown at present.
