Tornado watch, T’storm warnings issued
The National Weather Service forecasts likely storms forming the night of Christmas Eve and intensifying through the weekend. Though the severe weather threat is lower today, there is still a risk for a few strong and locally severe storms.

Storms are possible Wednseday amid potentially record-breaking temperatures. Severe Thunderstorm Warnings were issued Wednesday morning for much of the area, with high winds and heavy rainfall.
Showers and thunderstorms are expected for Thursday. “And, the chances of severe storms (and especially the tornado threat) will decrease (but not to zero) after about 6 a.m. Thursday morning”.
FINALLY COOLER AIR: By Tuesday and into the middle part of next week, it finally looks like we will be able to see cooler and drier weather return to Alabama.
Severe damage was reported in several parts of Wayne County. Savannah previously hit the 80-degree mark in 2008 and 1984, according to the weather service’s office in Charleston, South Carolina.
Severe weather packing rain and wind are expected for portions of southern and eastern Iowa.
There were reports of trees down near Calcasieu, Louisiana, along with power outages and one person injured in a camping trailer.
