No indictments in Sandra Bland death
A woman holds a poster bearing the portrait of Sandra Bland, a 28-year-old black woman who killed herself in a Texas jail cell on July 13th, during a Michael Brown memorial rally on Union Square August 9, 2015 in NY.

Bland’s family has filed a civil suit in an attempt to force the county and individuals involved to take responsibility for their role in her death.
Prosecutor Darrell Jordan said the Waller County grand jury did not reach a decision on whether the trooper, Brian Encinia, who arrested Bland should face charges.
The case is not over, howevrer.
Coroners say Bland hanged herself at Waller County Jail but her family dispute the suggestion.
Waller County jail released numerous videos showing Bland’s treatment inside the jail, but her family contends she was murdered in police custody.
“All charges are under consideration”, he said, declining to elaborate.
“I’m coming here in front of you to let you know, I am not OK coming out of this hearing today”, said Geneva Reed-Veal, the mother of Sandra Bland.
“A secret process where secret evidence is presented to secret grand jurors is not one we can trust or have confidence in”, Sharon Cooper, Bland’s sister posted to Facebook a day after the decision, criticizing the inability to access the evidence the grand jury reviewed.
The grand jury met for more than eight hours Monday.
A video of the arrest shows Mr Encinia giving Ms Bland a warning. The conference took place four days after a judge set a 2017 date for a wrongful death lawsuit.
Melissa Hamilton, visiting criminal law scholar at the University of Houston, said Bland had no legal right to remain in her auto after the trooper ordered her out. The stop escalated into a confrontation that ended with Bland being forced to the ground and arrested for assaulting a public servant. All three Democratic presidential candidates-Sanders, Hillary Clinton, and former Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley-have made Bland’s death a clarion call for reforming a police system that they claim is racially biased and aggressively pursues minor offenses.
“Community reaction is pretty intense and obviously across social media there’s a lot of outrage”, Smith says. Encinia was placed on desk duty after the DPS said he violated traffic stop procedures and the department’s courtesy policy.

Video footage from the jail did not show what happened inside Ms Bland’s cell, but did suggest no-one entered or left it until someone found her unconscious.
