The latest figures put Trump at 35.1 percent support in the much followed RealClearPolitics.com polling average, his highest mark yet. Perhaps it may not come out until after the general election, but who knows?
Trump continues to the lead the Republican field going into the new year – a development that has stunned the political world and deeply divided the Republican party.
While this may seem implausible to some, to me – if true – it is nothing short of genius.

David Brock, the liberal founder of Media Matters, appeared Tuesday on MSNBC and brazenly accused Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump of calling President Obama a black rapist. In 2011, NPR’s Neal Conan made this observation (to The Post’s Chris Cillizza) on the 1984 Walter Mondale/Geraldine Ferraro campaign: “That ticket went on to get schlonged at the polls. He has to keep sort of upping the stakes and going even further”. He said, “This will enhance her victimology status”.

Mrs Clinton’s campaign communications director tweeted: “We are not responding to Trump but everyone who understands the humiliation this degrading language inflicts on all women should”.
