Orange County schools receives e-mail threat
A Clark County School District spokeswoman says administrators discovered an emailed threat after 9 a.m. Thursday similar to those received this week in Los Angeles, New York, Houston and other cities.

According to employees of CCSD, who refused to name themselves when contacted by the MLN, the CCSD staff consulted with special Local Threat experts and Crisis Response Teams as well as multiple law enforcement agencies, who ultimately deemed the email as non-credible. New York, for example, received the same e-mailed threat as Los Angeles this week but decided not to close its schools because it deemed those threats not credible.
New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio said shutting down schools would be “a huge disservice to our nation”. As an act of good measure, police presence will also be on hand at the school.
All Plainfield Community School Corporation schools will be closed today, Thursday, December 17.
Before online threats that led to Danville Community School Corporation’s leaders were posted, Danville Community High School was on alert due to separate incidents of threats by students, both of whom were arrested early Thursday. School will not resume until January 4, the Web post said.
Broward County Schools superintended Robert Runcie, meanwhile, retweeted the Broward Schools twitter account saying that schools are open and calling the threat not credible.
The arrests and school shutdowns in the two western suburbs of Indianapolis came as larger school districts in Texas and Florida made a decision to stay open on Thursday despite receiving threats of violence.
Given the proximity of that attack and the frequency of school shootings, current LAPD Police Chief Charlie Beck believes school district officials made the right call.
The messages Thursday morning alerting students, parents, and faculty about the closure made no mention of the gun threat. The email says “every school in the L.A. Unified district” – that’s more than 1,000 – would be targeted with bombs and rifle assaults.
In Texas, threats were received in the Houston, Dallas and McAllen school districts. Schools across the Dallas area were open Thursday.
The statement said several current and former school trustees received the message Wednesday night via their board email addresses.
Police told RTV6 that they arrested two male Danville students, one a sophomore and one a freshman.

In Plainfield, police said in a statement that the agency received information late Wednesday night about social media postings, which directly mentioned “Plainfield High School students”.
