“So, I handed her the food and said, ‘Here”. KPVI-TV reached out to the school district but didn’t get a response. She has hired an attorney.
“I love the students, and they love me, too”, Bowden wrote. However, she says they have school policies in place to never let a student go hungry even if the student has no money for food.
Bowden received a letter saying she was terminated for “theft”.
Asked if she regrets handing out the free meal, the former lunch lady told: ‘My heart hurts. “You’re negative.’ Something needs to be changed”, the mom said.
The school district labeled it “theft”, despite the meal costing less than $2.
Students are allowed to charge up to $11.00, but workers can still give them some food if they exceed that limit, the Journal reports.

The city said on its Twitter page that Pocatello’s mayor met with the school superintendent on Wednesday and applauded the district’s offer to rehire Bowden.
