SANTA TRACKER: Follow St. Nick around the globe
Where’s Santa? That’s the question many are asking when it comes to tracking Santa Claus on Christmas Eve.

That sparked the tradition that is heading into its 60th year. But the number was incorrectly printed, directing calls instead to the Continental Air Defense Command Operations Center, according to information provided by the North American Aerospace Defense Command.
Air Force Col. Harry Shoup took a call from a child and thought he was being pranked.
“So, he ordered his officers and his troops to start tracking Santa using our systems and telling the kids where Santa was throughout the night”, Maj.
“Santa has to slow down for them because he travels at the speed of starlight”, Kucharek said, adding that his exact flight plan is classified.
“And Dad realized that it wasn’t a joke”, her sister says.

Volunteers fielded a growing number of calls from curious children from outside the United States. He really does look like our dear “Santa Claus” but instead of a sleigh drives a black pickup truck with customized plates and owns a barbecue company called Santa’s BBQ.
Last year, NORAD took more than 134,000 calls over 23 hours. The Peterson Air Force Base in Colorado has hundreds of volunteers, including military members and their families.
The website is available in eight languages: English, French, Spanish, German, Italian, Japanese, Portuguese and Chinese.
Lt. Joe Nawrocki is fielding calls for the first time this year. Parents urge kids to go to bed and let visions of sugarplums dance in their heads, lest he arrive to find them awake and dash away to the next house without stopping.
Whether it’s the cold in Canada, Russia and Northern Europe or the warmer temperatures in Australia and South America where Christmas falls in the middle of summer, St. Nick has an adjustable suit to keep him comfortable while he finishes his job of delivering presents, stocking stuffers and other treats. For kids who want to help the reindeer on their journey, Dr. Kinnarney recommended leaving a plate of graham cracker reindeer cookies, their favorite snack, for Santa to feed them between stops.
