Uefa disappointed by Platini ban
A FIFA court Monday banned Sepp Blatter and Michel Platini – once the most powerful men in football – for eight years over ethics violations. “Mr Platini found himself in a situation of conflict of interest, despite which he continued to perform his related duties…By failing to place FIFA’s interests first and abstain from doing anything which could be contrary to FIFA’s interests, Mr Platini also violated his fiduciary duty to Federation Internationale de Football Association”.

These are far from the only allegations Blatter has faced over the past couple of years.
The ban on Blatter, 79, and Platini, 60, has effectively put an end to both their careers. “The spokesperson of the Ethics Commission (Andreas Bantel) had already announced that Michel would be suspended for several years”.
Blatter did not specifically apologize for the global soccer organization’s scandal but did say, “I regret I am a punching ball and for my organization I have served with my heart and conscience for 41 years”.
His last words on leaving were “I’ll be back”. I’m sorry for football. Human beings need to be respected.
But FIFA is riddled with corruption, bribes, and gross abuses of power, and it’s Blatter who’s created that environment. My family was mocked.
Blatter and Fifa vice-president Platini claimed this related to work carried out by the former France captain for world football’s governing body between 1999 and 2002, citing a “gentleman’s agreement”, but the Ethics Committee rejected their assertions.
The Swiss man appeared before the ethics committee on Thursday. “I am at peace with my conscience”, Platini added. Platini will also follow suit.
Blatter has not been charged with any criminal wrongdoing, but the investigation is ongoing. “Naturally, Uefa is extremely disappointed with this decision, which nevertheless is subject to appeal”.
Platini has not commented on a possible appeal.

“It is very hard for me to estimate this decision”. It was orchestrated to tarnish my reputation. “I’m sorry. I am sorry about how I am treated in this world of humanitarian qualities”.
