The quake measured a strong 6.9 magnitude on the richter scale, DIG MET Department confirmed to The Express Tribune.
In the meantime reports suggest that the quake was of 6.2 magnitude with its epicenter at the Afghanistan-Tajikistan border.
A moderate intensity natural disaster, with epicentre in Hindu Kush region of Afghanistan, tonight shook Delhi, Jammu and Kashmir and other parts of North India.
For many in Pakistan, October’s quake brought back traumatic memories of a 7.6-magnitude quake that struck in October 2005, killing more than 75,000 people and displacing some 3.5 million.
The U.S. Geological Survey said the quake was 203.5 km deep.
Tremors were felt as far away as New Delhi, officials said.
Meanwhile the police in the Indian capital tweeted to say there have not been any calls reporting any damage or casualty as yet.
