Sharif in Lahore airport to receive Modi
In a sudden development on Friday, Modi said he will meet his Pakistani counterpart Nawaz Sharif in Lahore in the afternoon on his way back to New Delhi from Afghanistan. “Spoke to PM Nawaz Sharif & wished him on his birthday”, Modi said in another tweet.

Security forces and troops were beefed up at the Lahore International Airport shortly before Mr Modi’s arrival.
The two countries have tried to minimize tensions since the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks, which India says were orchestrated in Pakistan.
Sharif had earlier visited Colombo in November 2013 to participate in the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting.
“We recognize Cuba as a time tested friend which has stood by us in times of need”, the Prime Minister said in a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs here in connection with the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and Cuba.
Hours before he left for Lahore, Modi addressed the Afghan parliament and blasted Islamabad – but without naming the country – for sponsoring terrorism in Afghanistan. But his decision to visit Pakistan much before the SAARC Summit is clearly aimed at giving a major push to the stalled dialogue process between the two countries.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif announced the support Wednesday during a ceremony attended by Cuban ambassador to Pakistan, Gabriel Tiel Capote.
India accuses Pakistan of arming and training insurgents fighting for Kashmir’s independence from India or its merger with Pakistan, a charge Islamabad denies.
Nalin Kohli, a spokesman for Modi’s Bharatiya Janata Party, said in New Delhi that India was ready to take two steps forward if Pakistan took one to improve ties.
“The two Prime Ministers agreed to continue and enhance contacts and work together to establish good neighborly relations”, read the last tweet posted by the Spokesperson.

Congress leader Manish Tewari called it an “adventure” by the Indian prime minister.
