India’s Narendra Modi arrived in Pakistan on Friday, his first visit as prime minister to this Islamic nation that has been India’s long-standing archrival in the region.

Above all, it sends a strong message to the army in Pakistan that India is keen to interact with the political leadership despite several hurdles created by them and its ancillary, ISI spy agency.
The next step will be for the two countries’ foreign secretaries to meet in the middle of next month, he added.
Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Finance Minister Ishaq Dar were also present at the airport to receive the guest. In a tweet, she stated that such should be the terms with neighbours. “Both leaders also underscored the need to understand the issues, concerns and desires of each other”.
India and Pakistan broke the logjam in their ties and announced during Swaraj’s visit to Islamabad a couple of days after the meet of their NSAs that they have made a decision to engage in a “comprehensive” dialogue that will include peace and security and Jammu and Kashmir.
Hurriyat Conference (G) Secretary General Shabir Ahmad Shah said Indian PM’s visit to Pakistan is a good step.
In his speech to the Afghan parliament that indicated the importance of better ties with Pakistan, Modi said, “We know that Afghanistan’s success will require the cooperation and support of each of its neighbors”.
“Our foreign policy is going from the sublime to the ridiculous”, former union minister and Congress spokesman Manish Tewari told to a news channel. On the other hand, Foreign Office (FO) Spokesperson said that Modi’s visit was not scheduled but has come as a surprize.
