Unseasonably warm weather in South, East Coast
This could possibly be the warmest Christmas on record for some cities.

Reaching a high around 72 degrees, Thursday’s temperatures managed to break the prior record of 58 degrees set in 2003 in the morning, according to the National Weather Service in Albany.
“It appears high temperatures will be in the 70s on Christmas Eve in New York City, which is about 35 degrees above normal for the date”, AccuWeather Meteorologist Bill Deger said. Forecasts suggest that on Christmas Day it will be about a high of 57 degrees here and about 63 degrees in New York, KTLA reports.
A real scorcher relative to the typical winter weather, temperatures on Christmas Eve were set to break three records for the day in Poughkeepsie: The record high, the record highest low and the record highest average temperature.
All along the east coast on Christmas Eve, temperatures stayed in the balmy 50s and 60s through the day.
Thursday’s high of 67 degrees topped the previous December 24 record of 59 degrees, set in 2014.
In Indianapolis, Indiana, the temperature of 64 degrees Fahrenheit recorded shortly after midnight on December 24 was high enough to tie the record for the date, which was recorded in 1933. Last year, Providence was also 63 degrees on Christmas, as it was in 1964.
The average temperature for December 23 is 25 degrees.
In the South, Atlanta’s 75 degree reading was a record for Christmas.
Sunday: According to the National Weather Service, there’s a 40 percent chance of rain. Dulles, Va., has also broken its record high of 66, reaching 71 degrees.
Even while parts of the West have been cold and snowy this month, the warmth in the East has vastly outweighed it. More than 6,500 warm weather records have been set this month in the US, compared to less than 300 cold records according to the National Center for Environmental Information.
