Contributing to Weiland’s early death was atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease, as well as a history of asthma and multi-substance dependence. “Manner of death is accident”.
The 48-year-old was found dead on his tour bus outside a Minneapolis hotel on December 3rd, while he was on the road with his band, The Wildabouts.
Formed in 1989 in San Diego, California, Stone Temple Pilots scored several hit songs in the ’90s, including “Big Empty”, “Vasoline”, “Interstate Love Song”, and “Plush”, the latter of which won the 1994 Grammy Award for Best Hard Rock Performance.
Scott Weiland – who died in the age of 49 – rose to fame with his rock band Stone Temple Pilots back in 1990’s. The band’s 1992 debut album Core sold eight million copies. Stone Temple Pilots broke up in 2003, reunited in 2008 and split again in 2013.

Weiland’s current band, Scott Weiland & the Wildabouts, had been scheduled to play in Medina, Minnesota, on December 3, but it had been canceled a week earlier due to poor ticket sales. In 1995, he was arrested after police found him carrying crack and heroin.
