Scott Weiland – who died in the age of 49 – rose to fame with his rock band Stone Temple Pilots back in 1990’s.
TMZ have reported that toxicology results have revealed the cause of Scott Weiland’s death.
The coroner lists “multi-substance dependence” as a factor in his death, while he also suffered from “significant” heart disease and asthma.
The medical examiner said the death was accidental.
Weiland’s extraordinary career often was overshadowed by a constant battle with drug addiction.
“The outpouring of condolences and prayers offered to our children, Noah and Lucy, has been overwhelming, appreciated and even comforting”, Mary said in a recent Rolling Stone piece.
It is believed the 2003 break-up of Stone Temple Pilots was in part because of his stints in rehab and drug-related arrests. The debut album, “Contraband”, sold more than 3 million copies and yielded a massive hit, “Slither”, and another Grammy for Weiland.
After the Grammy Award-winning group disbanded, following hits including Interstate Love Song, Plush and Vasoline, Weiland went on to front Velvet Revolver.
