SpaceX Gets Back In The Game With Falcon 9 Launch
Musk is very thrilled about hearing this news. Up until now, the first stage of rockets disintegrated and landed into the ocean. The tall, white portion of the rocket glided back to Earth, its engines burning bright orange against a black night sky. The first stage of the rocket appeared to settle down firmly and stick the landing. The landing itself looked like a scene from a movie. About two minutes into the flight, the rocket’s first-stage separated cleanly from the second stage and began a controlled descent back to Earth. “The Falcon first stage landing is confirmed”, SpaceX wrote on Twitter.

SpaceX’s rocket deployed 11 satellites for telecommunications company ORBCOMM of Fort Lee, N.J. after lifting off from Cape Canaveral, Fla. The rocket was carrying $110 million worth of supplies for NASA to the International Space Station. “Congratulations @SpaceX on your successful vertical landing of the first stage back on Earth!”
One response to Bezos’ tweet included a meme which showed the Miss Universe crown being taken off of Miss Colombia, who was wearing a virtual sash that said Blue Origin, and given to Miss Philippines, who was now wearing a sash reading SpaceX.
Those savings could be passed on to the companies hitching rides on those rockets, like those making weather and communications satellites – if it doesn’t cost too much to get the rockets up and running again.
Monday night’s launch is thought to be a significant step toward achieving re-usability on rockets, which would lower launch costs that could eventually lead to a commercial space industry. But, Falcon 9 rocket of SpaceX is more complex than Blue Origin’s rocket as it’s created to go higher in space.

The SpaceX rocket that landed Monday successfully launched satellites into orbit. But SpaceX has insisted that each attempt has helped engineers come closer to perfecting the technique.
