Peterson held out of Vikings practice, could still play
The Minnesota Vikings play the New York Giants on Sunday night at TCF Bank Stadium, and a win for the Purple ensures them a spot in the playoffs.

With a banged up shoulder and ankle, many were anxious that Peterson could potentially miss a big game with playoff implications against the Giants on Sunday.
Peterson sprained his left ankle in the first half of last week’s 38-17 win against the Chicago Bears.
This game will include two of the more exciting players in the league, as the NFL’s top rusher, Adrian Peterson (1,314 yards, 9 TDs), and the Minnesota Vikings (9-5) play third-leading receiver, Odell Beckham Jr.
The Giants need to stretch out the Vikings powerful front seven with their passing game. “When I got drafted in “09, they made sure I was OK in everything I did.”.
“Outside of Eli Manning, [Beckham] is their best player”, Peterson said. “But there’s a fine line because I don’t want guys to be rusty going into (the) Green Bay (game on January 3), and I don’t want to have bad momentum going in if we do get in the playoffs”.
“I do want to be smart and that would be more so with guys that are hurt”, Zimmer said.
He has not played in a regular-season game to date, but Singleton does boast rather impressive testing scores, according to Doug Kyed of NESN, which include a 4.65-second 40-yard dash, a 7.13-second three-cone, a 31-inch vertical jump and a 10-foot broad jump.
What we remember as the game where Adrian Peterson fell just short of the single-season rushing record was also one of Christian Ponder’s greatest moments as a Vikings quarterback. When asked about the impressive rushing numbers in Sunday’s loss to the Panthers, the first player Tom Coughlin credited was Whitlock, whose blocking opened up plenty of holes for Rashad Jennings and company, so don’t overlook his absence as well. “People put a stigma on being a 30-year-old back and I showed them this year that age doesn’t matter”. “We’ll have to make plays, but we’ve got guys who can do that”. “So I definitely wanted to go out there and compete against him”, cornerback Captain Munnerlyn said.
A win Sunday by the Vikings will secure their first trip to the postseason since 2012. I was not in the mood – and I didn’t do a very good job of hiding it. Here I am, Christmas Eve, sitting around the table playing games with my family on a night that’s supposed to bring happiness and cheer… with a scowl on my face and absolutely zero interest in “passing go” or spelling stupid words with stupid random letters. Yeah. But my personal opinion, I don’t think it warranted a suspension. If Coleman can’t play Sunday when the Falcons (7-7) host Carolina (14-0), Terron Ward will take his place behind Pro Bowl starter Devonta Freeman.
The total has gone UNDER in 6 of Minnesota’s last 8 games at home.
“It would mean a lot”, Peterson said of winning another.
