The two cricketers had earlier said that they would not be a part of any training camp in which left arm pacer Mohammad Amir is a part of.
“Both Ali and Hafeez stayed away from the training camp today apparently because of Amir but we are trying to solve the matter”, a PCB spokesperson told AFP. “I have forgiven all who have damaged the integrity of the Pakistan cricket through corruption but I, in principle, am against corruption and will keep holding this stance forever”.
Mohammad Hafeez and Azhar Ali met with Shahryar Khan at the PCB headquarters ahead of their arrival at the training camp where the team prepares for the New Zealand tour.
“My stance is that all corrupt players should not be given another chance to represent Pakistan”.
Considered as one of the most promising talents, Amir had taken 51 wickets in 14 Tests and 25 in 15 one-day internationals before he was handed a five-year ban for bowling deliberate no-balls by pre-arrangement during the fourth test against England at Lord’s in 2010.
The three players and their agent Mazhar Majeed were jailed by a British court in 2011.
The trio were cleared to return to the sport by the International Cricket Council in September after serving suspensions.
Since his return, he has taken 22 wickets in four non first-class games, while his tally of wickets in the qualifying rounds of the Quaid-e-Azam trophy stood at 34.
Hafeez had not reported to the camp and was first to speak against Amir’s recall when he refused to play alongside him for Chittagong Vikings in Bangladesh’s Twenty20 league.
