Raiders offense awakens in overtime
Yes, the Raiders won a sloppy, mistake filled game 23-20 over the San Diego Chargers on Christmas Eve, but it is what happened after the game that showed the world why Woodson is so respected and loved by football fans.

The Raiders continued to play stout defense in finishing their home season with a 3-5 record, with the offense contributing just enough to put up the winning points on a 31-yard field goal by Sebastian Janikowski in overtime.
Charles Woodson addresses the fans after his final home game at the Coliseum. As a corner and safety with the Raiders and Green Bay Packers, Woodson was selected to nine Pro Bowls (including this season), a three-time All-Pro selection, led the National Football League in interceptions twice (nine in 2009 and seven in 2011), named Defensive Rookie of the Year in 1998 and Defensive Player of the Year in 2009.
On first down, Rivers threw an apparent 30-yard touchdown pass to tight end Ladarius Green.
The Raiders hardly provided a memorable game if this was the Oakland finale as both offenses struggled for much of the game. Crabtree’s score was a second half dime from Derek Carr, who lofted a perfectly placed three-yard fade to the back left corner of the end zone. While complaining about the lack of a pass interference penalty, the Chargers were hit with a 15-yard unsportsmanlike penalty call.
In spite of the fact that the Raiders failed to make it to the postseason, two things are very much clear: They have finally found their franchise quarterback in Derek Carr, and Jack Del Rio is here to stay.
One of those punts from the Raiders’ Marquette King pushed San Diego back to their 9-yard line. Many of the Raiders all-time greats were on hand to see Ray Guy get his Hall of Fame ring at halftime. Crabtree has been making extremely few plays the past six weeks. Chargers kicker Josh Lambo made a 53-yard field goal before Raiders outside linebacker Khalil Mack was called for holding.
I’ll do my part in sharing my perspective on the matter for each position group; from there, you can decide what to do with that info.
With the game tied 20-20 in overtime, Oakland ran a reverse pass play that gave Woodson the ball and the opportunity to pass but the throw was not open and Woodson had to scramble and ultimately lost three yards.
The Chargers got on the board first when running back DONALD BROWN used his own fortitude and a key block by left guard ORLANDO FRANKLIN, to get into the end zone from 1 yard out. He also is proving to be a weapon in the passing game. Second of all, this could be the Raiders last game in Oakland with talks and actions heating up concerning their move to Los Angeles.
NOTES: Chargers starting WR Stevie Johnson (hip) was inactive for the second consecutive game.

But that was plenty of time for the Chargers and quarterback Philip Rivers to drive for the game-tying field goal that forced overtime. Rivers went 4-for-4 for 35 yards on the drive.
