Born in Karachi in undivided India, Sadhana’s father moved the family to Bombay after the partition. Sadhana is survived by her foster daughter. The big hit came in from “Love in Shimla” in which she starred opposite Joy Mukherjee, the son of legendary Shashadar Mukherjee, a known talent spotter. Her father and actor Hari Shivdasani were brothers. They were married for almost thirty years, until Nayyar died in 1995 from asthma.

A few years ago, after the playback singer made a decision to redevelop the building, there were some problems between the two relating to the garden in front of the house.

Shaina was closely involved with Sadhana, even taking her to senior police officers to lodge her complaint.

Part of several evergreen films, Sadhana no more
