The Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Choir’s song A Bridge Over You pulled ahead in its race against Bieber’s Love Yourself after the pop star urged his fans to buy the charity single.
Commenting on their success, the choir said, “it is a brilliant celebration for the NHS across the country, so well done and thank you everyone”. The money collected from the sale will go to health charities including Carers UK and Mind. If you would like to discuss another topic, look for a relevant article. Indeed, the choir owe the Canadian a debt of gratitude for imploring the public to help them knock him off the number one slot…
They continued: “A massive cheer for the NHS, thank you!”
Bieber tweeted with happiness at his second-place finish.
By the end of the race, the NHS Choir reached 127,000 sales, leaving Bieber’s song, reports the BBC who is behind the chart.
Their song is a mash-up of “Bridge Over Troubled Water” by Simon and Garfunkel and Coldplay s “Fix You“.
NHS Choir began trending after Bieber’s declaration of support and bookmakers started suspending betting.
Nerva said: “We think the NHS needs the Xmas number one more than Justin Bieber”.
And the National Health Service is a widely accepted institution, depended upon by tens of millions in both the United Kingdom and in Canada, where Bieber was born.
That came after Bieber wrote on Twitter Wednesday: “So for 1 week it s ok not to be #1”.
‘There couldn’t be a more deserving group of winners’.
Another singer celebrating festive success is Adele, who has scored the biggest selling album of Christmas week for 2015.
