Kirti to Shah: Why no DDCA mention?
Though the fault lines in the BJP are not easily discernible, it is an open secret that Advani, Joshi, Shanta Kumar and former finance minister Sinha are known to be unhappy with the working style of Shah, a confidant of Prime Minister Modi.

On Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had said that Jaitley would come out of the DDCA row with flying colours – a la Advani.
The decision was announced in the evening in a one-line release issued by the party and signed by general secretary Arun Singh.
“The suspension of Shri Kirti Azad from the BJP is nothing but a manifestation of the Corruptionphilia that grips the BJP”, said Randeep Surjewala, the party’s chief spokesman.
Party sources said he has been accused of colluding with opposition parties, including the Aam Aadmi Party and the Congress with the sole objective of embarrassing the party and its office bearers.
Defying the party’s whip, he also held a press conference, dragging Jaitley into the alleged DDCA scam and also making a small speech about the same in the Lok Sabha soon after the finance minister rubbished all the accusations.
“In all fairness and in keeping with the tenets of equity, I look forward to being provided an opportunity to clear my name on the serious charges of having acted against the party’s interests”, Azad said in his letter to Shah.
In an emotional appeal to party president Amit Shah, said he is a “loyal soldier” of BJP since 1993.
They had made a strong public statement after the Bihar poll debacle, saying the party has been “emasculated” in the last one year and was being “forced to kow-tow to a handful”. “Instead of questioning Jaitley, they suspend Azad”. The BJP sources said that had there been no action against Azad, Jaitley’s position would have become “untenable”. Worth mentioning, Azad recently led a campaign against Jaitley on alleged corruption in DDCA. Who has been at the forefront of the attack on Jaitley, said, “There is no democracy in BJP”. Avoid knee jerk reaction/coercive action against (a) friend who’s fighting against corruption.
They contended that the gathering ought to have sent a show cause notification to Azad, waited for his reply and then acted after a due meeting of the party’s parliamentary board.

The question is, why did the BJP brass, particularly Modi, expose themselves to such a barrage of criticism by shunting out Azad, when it could easily have dealt with him more subtly?
