Although Spotify, Apple and Google likely would have paid handsomely for the exclusive streaming rights, the Beatles camp elected to release the material on all services and tiers to reach the broadest possible swath of fans. It seems that competition amongst these streaming services will rise drastically following the move; helping each service boost its user base respectively on Christmas Eve.
This year, Taylor Swift made the decision to pull her tracks off of Spotify following the release of her album 1989, while Adele’s record-breaking third LP 25 is still not available to stream.
The other streaming services to include Beatles in the catalogues are Microsoft Groove, Napster, Amazon Prime Music, Slacker Radio and Tidal.
Starting on Thursday, Christmas Eve, all music from the world’s most popular band will be available on many music streaming services.
Thirteen remastered studio albums and four compilation albums will begin streaming at 12:01 a.m. on December 24. In addition, the Google Play Music subscribers will also be able to access an additional four collection albums of The Beatles.
Music fans had been discussing the band’s arrival to Apple Music’s streaming service for quite some time.
The Beatles’ music finally arrived for purchase on Apple’s iTunes service in 2010, selling 2 million songs during the debut week, according to Billboard.
