Los Angeles Clippers Postgame
Kobe Bryant, in his swan song season for the Los Angeles Lakers, is the early leader in voting for the 2016 NBA All-Star game, the NBA announced yesterday.

They entered Friday’s game having won seven straight over the Lakers by an average margin of 24.6 points.
Unfortunately for the Lakers, that also means they aren’t going anywhere either this year and only have a rebuild to look forward to next year. Trust me – I was there tonight, and that crowd was all about the Kobe Christmas sendoff and the Silver (Screen & Roll) Linings that came with the Lakers only losing by 10 after being down 28. Nance didn’t really need to do that, and this is a guy who was one of the best rebounders in the Mountain West Conference for four years.
Even as the Lakers struggle this season, Russell keeps giving Lakers fans reasons to have hope.
Lakers Coach Byron Scott was taken aback when he heard the distance between Bryant and other players. But with Austin Rivers’ lacking skill as an actual point guard and the bench’s lack of consistent shooting or solid defense, they can squander leads in a hurry. Bryant, who has a record 395 points on Christmas Day, played 26 minutes in his NBA-record 16th Christmas Day game and scored 12 points for the Lakers, reports Xinhua.
The biggest bright spot for the Lakers, outside of a nice fourth-quarter comeback effort, was the play of D’Angelo Russell.
The Clippers’ starters after building an 85-57 lead, rushed back into the game after backup Lakers guards D’Angelo Russell and Marcelo Huertas made a late influence. In an otherwise lethargic effort, the fourth quarter offered promise.
“It was a national game and a Christmas Day game, and he stepped up as a lot of people saw him”, Lakers forward Nick Young said. After a 3-pointer by former Laker forward Wesley Johnson pushed the lead back to 10, the Lakers failed to get any closer than eight the rest of the way.
But the energy that the Lakers’ second unit provided ran out of gas.
Just watch, as the Lakers proceed to go full Lakers – again.
The Clippers have established themselves as LA’s top basketball team this season, so it should come as no surprise that they were able to muster a 94-84 win over the Lakers last night. It was truth in advertising for two players on a team with zero championships, but they seemed to be having fun with it. The All-Star Game will be played February 14 at Air Canada Centre in Toronto.

That became wishful thinking for three quarters. Thankfully nothing too drastic happened in the final period.
