Van Gaal unsure about Man Utd support after Stoke loss
Manchester United suffered their fourth successive defeats in all competitions for the first time since 1996 and gone seven games without a win for the first time since the 1989-90 season as Stoke City blanked Louis van Gaal’s boys 2-0 at Britannia Stadium on Saturday.

Manchester United midfielder Michael Carrick has revealed his side’s winless run has left him hurting and believes each and every one of the team plus manager Louis Van Gaal must improve.
Inasmuch as Van Gaal is struggling to find a way of stopping the rot – dropping Wayne Rooney was the latest plan to be tried then rejected when the forward came on at half-time – he must privately accept that he has failed already.
“It doesn’t matter how much good work he can do for us off the field in terms of being some sort of mentor for the players”, he told Sky Sports. United only came to life in the second half after Rooney was brought on but Stoke goalkeeper Jack Butland thwarted any hopes of a comeback.
After the Norwich game he admitted he was “worried” about his future, then walked out of his pre-Stoke press conference after less than five minutes, criticizing journalists for suggesting he was in danger of following Chelsea’s Jose Mourinho in being sacked before 2015 was finished.
Rooney, 30, has scored just two Premier League goals all season and hasn’t found the net for United since heading the victor in the Champions League win over CSKA Moscow on 3 November.
Bottom club Aston Villa drew 1-1 at home to West Ham United thanks to Jordan Ayew’s penalty, leaving manager Remi Garde still awaiting a first win since taking over from Tim Sherwood. In a match against Stoke City at the Britannia Stadium, United were defeated 2-0 by the home side.
Stoke’s Marko Arnautovic, right, turns to celebrate after scoring Stoke’s second goal against Man …
“As a group of players we know can do better and we regularly have meetings with the players, myself and the other senior players in the squad, and the manager as well”. Goodbye from Van Gaal? But rather than slamming the ball high into the net, Fellaini shot low and lacking power, allowing Butland to make a diving save.

Full-back Glen Johnson pounced immediately on the mistake to square for Bojan Krkic and, with De Gea hopelessly stranded, the Spaniard kept his composure to pass the ball into the net despite the close attention of two United defenders. “We talked about being on the front foot and having intensity to our play”.
