United are now on a six-game winless streak in all competitions and were recently eliminated from the Champions League by VfL Wolfsburg.
United now sit outside the top four of the Premier League by virtue of goal difference and are nine points behind leaders Leicester City. “But, in reality, the people who are writing that stuff don’t really know anything”.
Wayne Rooney spoke to Sky Sports and claimed that the Manchester United players are still behind the manager and the media reports contain very less truth.
“We are proud people, we are proud to play for Man United and when it’s not going right then it is hard to take”.
“We have to be strong together and try to get the better results we need”.
“Obviously it was a tough game, we’ve given ourselves too much to do again”.
The Dutchman stormed out of his pre-match press conference but confirmed that the players available has not changed from last time out. I have to deal with it and more importantly, the players have to deal with it.
Asked whether he had received assurances from the club hierarchy, Van Gaal told reporters: “I can also quit by myself”.
“It’s not nice when you’re getting criticism every week”.
The first of Boxing Day fixtures witnessed a fearless Stoke City took the lead as early as the 19th minute with former Barcelona starlet Bojan Krkic keeping his cool to slot home from a defensive error from United.
“We need to get through this group of games coming up because the last few games haven’t been good enough and sometimes it’s fundamentals and basics of the game that you need to get right”.
“It’s tough but it’s part of football and part of being a footballer”.
Speculation is now mounting that there will be a new manager at Old Trafford sooner rather than later, with the name of recently-sacked Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho on everyone’s lips as a possible replacement. “I thought we were excellent today, on the front foot from the start, and we should have scored more goals really”.
