Calipari: Fans shouldn’t tease rival Louisville over scandal
Usually flirting with the idea of pulling off an undefeated regular season, the Kentucky Wildcats are in a fairly new position as they’ve already lost two games this season.

Calipari suggested the problem is a lack of depth, or at least effective depth.
Kentucky senior Alex Poythress finished with 14 points, six rebounds and three blocks.
Those issues are magnified by the intensity the Wildcats see from opponents on a nightly basis, though fortunately, Calipari avoided any reference to the Super Bowl when talking about that Thursday.
“Now, it’s just another game and we’re just going to go in there and be prepared to play them”, Hawkins said. “We are still learning that”. The game wasn’t over, but it kind of felt that way. “So let’s put it together”. Gone was the player United Kingdom coach John Calipari had called the nation’s best defender.
“I would say that a lot of the fans have been wanting to bury the hatchet, so to speak”, said Oscar Combs, founding publisher of the Cats’ Pause. “I like the kids we have”. “It was more than just winning games. If he’s right, you can’t press them, unless your hope is to wear them down, but that’s a big gamble, because you could be down 20 or more by the time they get exhausted”. “I’d rather you go 1-for-10 shooting than be tentative”.
Aside from instate players Hawkins and Derek Willis, the majority of Kentucky’s players know very little about the rivalry that exists between the two teams.
Yes, but the urgency of a Kentucky victory vs. a surprising Louisville team would drop a notch had the Wildcats beaten the Buckeyes. Cardinals coach Rick Pitino has denied knowledge of the activities Powell alleges in the book and hasn’t discussed the scandal since October.
And it was taken so late Louisville had no chance to grab an offensive rebound.

Jamal Murray can match Damion Lee with his outstanding scoring of his own, scoring 17.1 PPG for the Wildcats, and the Wildcats have a floor general in G Tyler Ulis, who averages a team leading 5.3 APG. Lewis and Lee combined to score 44 points while no other Card had more than seven points. Kentucky fans are quick to acknowledge Pitino’s coaching brilliance, but they have been slow to forgive the sense of betrayal they felt when he returned to college basketball from the NBA to take charge of the Wildcats’ chief rival. “The toughest thing I have to decide sometimes is who is going to start and I’ve never had that difficulty”. I saw some good stuff in the second half of that game (Ohio State). Calipari said the rivalry factor won’t come into play on Saturday. I demanded it. But it’s kind of like we’re saying, we’re throwing you a life raft, but you got to swim. “Some guys encourage that stuff, but I’m not one of them”. However, this team has played outstandingly and has proven it is still a force to be reckoned with while also one of the five best teams in the ACC. Though they have played a weaker schedule for the most part, there are important things to keep in mind.
