Christmas Eve Forecast: Record-shattering warmth today
Weeks of speculation about the weather on Christmas can be put to bed: Warm temperatures, a mix of clouds and sun, and rain are on tap for Christmas 2015. The maximum wind speed was estimated to be 70 miles per hour.

A slightly lower high of 47 is anticipated on Friday.
“Ironically, it’s the first year we had rented the warming hut”, said Camille Gartner, who was part of the group, expected to reach up to 80 people spanning four generations.
There’s only been one day all month where temperatures didn’t reach at least 40 degrees.
In Providence, Christmas set a record a year ago at 63 degrees.
Why has it been so warm on the East Coast?
“It appears high temperatures will be in the 70s on Christmas Eve in New York City, which is about 35 degrees above normal for the date”, AccuWeather Meteorologist Bill Deger said.
The high was 72 degrees in New York City today – flawless weather for ice skating in Bryant Park in short-sleeves, or running in the Brooklyn Bridge Park in shorts.
“Cold air behind the front will drop snow levels down to between 3,000 feet and 4,000 feet”, the outlook said.
It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas in some parts of the country, but in others it feels more like a typical spring day.
It seems Mr. Green Christmas wins out this year with record-breaking temperatures making for a holiday that could get Heat Miser singing.
A year later, the words “polar vortex” could’ve been the theme of the season as holiday cheer turned to tears with several early-January extreme cold alerts.
There remains a chance of a White Christmas in Western Washington.
Although Christmas day didn’t break a record, Christmas Eve did, but not for temperature.
The higher-than-normal temperatures are forecast to continue for most of the northern half of the United States through the rest of the winter, according to the latest forecast from the Climate Prediction Center.

There was straight-line wind damage recorded, the Weather Service said, including tossed wooden pallets, a telephone pole that was blown over and a shed that was destroyed.
