Nation At 9: Is there more to Kirti Azad suspension?

The constitution of the Margdarshak Mandal a year ago was seen as a move by the current BJP leadership to sideline the veterans, who have been denied an active role in the party’s affairs.
Punjab BJP vice president Rajinder Mohan Singh Chhina alleged that Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Congress were raking up “unnecessary and fake issues” relating to the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA).
Defying the party’s whip, he also held a press conference, dragging Jaitley into the alleged DDCA scam and also making a small speech about the same in the Lok Sabha soon after the finance minister rubbished all the accusations.
Azad also questioned the BJP to explain specific charges of anti-parties activities and said that he has not joined hands with the Opposition.
A day after his suspension, defiant Azad maintained that his struggle was exclusively towards “corruption” within the DDCA and never towards any particular person. “I reiterate that I remain a loyal worker of BJP and have no intention of causing embarrassment to my party or to indulge in any anti-party activity”, Azad said in his letter to Shah.
Azad, who has made a decision to meet the prime minister, charged that crucial DDCA files are disappearing as the CBI was alerting the association by giving notices. “My party gave it to them on the platter, not me”, he said, adding that those who have suspended him for raising a voice against corruption have “defamed” the Prime Minister. “You have both inside and outside Parliament conducted yourself in a manner which clearly amounts to indiscipline and anti-party activities…”
“I confirm this that I will assist Kirti Azad on the draft notice from party”.
Kirti Azad, suspended by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for his attack on Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, has written a letter to his party president Amit Shah asking on what grounds the party has acted against him. What saddens me is that this was my issue and the AAP has taken it up.
Suspended BJP MP Kirti Azad and PM Narendra Modi.
