I want specific reasons for my suspension from BJP: Azad
BJP MP Kirti Azad’s suspension seems to have opened some old wounds, with four party veterans led by L K Advani deciding to raise the Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA) corruption issue at a party forum. “What anti-party activity have I done?” asked as journalists sought his reaction. Another party maverick, Subramanian Swamy, has assured Azad that he will draft Azad’s reply to the suspension notice. “People have started losing faith”, he said while returnig from his two-day visit to Amethi.

Advani drove to the residence of another former president Murli Manohar Joshi and was closeted there with BJP leaders Yashwant Sinha and Shanta Kumar, party insiders said. “I don’t want to speak much on cricket, but I can speak a lot about about him”, he said.
CSI called on former Olympians and other sportspersons to support Azad in his “fight against corruption in sports”.
“I have always said that we trust his integrity but I do not trust his competence”.
The Congress attacked the BJP over suspension of Kirti Azad, saying that it was an illustration of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s dictatorial style of functioning.
“But politics should not stoop to this level which is unhealthy for the country”, he said Chhina also lashed out at Kirti Azad”. Party sources said further action will depend on his response to the notice.
Sources said that the party leadership was under extreme pressure from Jaitley, the finance minister, to take action against Azad.
For eight years, Azad has been campaigning against alleged financial irregularities in the DDCA, which was headed by Jaitley for 13 long years until 2013.
The party issued a terse letter in the evening stating, “For anti-party activities, Shri Kirti Azad, MP, Darbhanga, is with immediate effect suspended from the party”.
In a sharp retort, Congress leader Pramod Tiwari said that while AAP has “lowered the dignity” in speech, the BJP has “lowered the dignity in action”. Later, however, in his tweets, he did name Jaitley and dared him to file a defamation suit against him (Azad) too as Jaitley had done against Delhj Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and five of his lieutenants.
They contended that the gathering ought to have sent a show cause notification to Azad, waited for his reply and then acted after a due meeting of the party’s parliamentary board.

Azad had sought intervention of the “margdarshak mandal”, comprising Advani, Joshi, Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Rajnath Singh, which was formed by BJP president Amit Shah after he took over the party reins.
