Raiders’ Woodson gets first career carry
– Raider Nation is essentially borderless.

Neither offense was very good for the majority of the game, but there were sparks of solid play here and there, beginning with Donald Brown’s 1-yard TD run in the first quarter. After the Chargers managed to prevent the Raiders from scoring a touchdown, they kicked what would be the game-winning field goal.
It may have been historic, though the folks in Oakland seemed to not be concerned. He had been planning to announce next month, but chose to announce early so he could say a proper goodbye to Oakland fans.
But that was plenty of time for the Chargers and quarterback Philip Rivers to drive for the game-tying field goal that forced overtime. In fact, they got several. “But I am proud of how we hung in there and made some plays at the end”.
“It’s been the story of the year, just losing close games”, Rivers said.
The sloppy play continued in the fourth quarter when San Diego was called for unsportsmanlike conduct after an incomplete pass on third down.
The Raiders were in L.A. for 14 years.
Raiders defensive back Charles Woodson handled the ball plenty of times in his 18-year career. Not only did the Oakland “D” win the game by keeping the Chargers out of the end zone in the OT, but they also scored a safety and evened the turnover battle at one apiece. On the next play, Ladarius Green appeared to catch a pass in the end zone that (with a PAT) would have put the Chargers up by 12. However, this touchdown was overturned after further review.
The Chargers tied it on Josh Lambo’s 47-yard field goal with 55 seconds to play.
McCoy allowed a rare vulnerable moment afterward, saying, “It’s unbelievable…” The Chargers held Oakland to 283 total yards and 23 points in an overtime game. “I got one game left, I can’t leave with negative-3 yards”. They went for the two-point conversion to take a 3-point lead at 20-17. But Lambo missed this time from 48 yards, and the Raiders were still alive.
The game was not a pretty one for the majority of the game, but the Raiders defense did just enough to overcome an off night for the offense that was highlighted by two Carr touchdown passes to Michael Crabtree. Raiders DE Benson Mayowa started in place of rookie Mario Edwards Jr. San Diego lost several players to injuries, including CB Jason Verrett (hamstring), Eric Weddle (groin), OL Orlando Franklin (concussion) and C Trevor Robinson (concussion). Wide receiver Dontrelle Inman caught eight passes for 82 yards and a touchdown.
It’s been that kind of season for the hobbled and horrid Chargers. They are one of three National Football League teams expected to apply for the right to move to the Los Angeles area.
Outlook: Looking ahead to Week 17, both teams will be back in action on Sunday, January 3.

Before the game, Woodson took a stroll around the outer ring of the field and greeted some fans along the way. When the offense hit a wall, punter Marquette King (8 punts, 50.0 average, long of 65 yards, 6 inside the 20-yard line) made sure the Bolts had to work in order to try and get on the board.
