Microsoft delays Windows 10 mobile update to early 2016
Microsoft is building a custom version of Windows 10 for China’s government, which will see security and patching delivered by its joint venture with a state-owned company. One such company is China Electronics Technology Group (CTEC), and the idea is all about helping the software giant change its image in the country, but more so in the face of the Chinese government.

A statement from Microsoft’s Windows corporate vice president Yusuf Mehdi said that the new deal with CETC “signals the possibility for new opportunities for Windows 10 in the many government entities in China”.
This new venture is simply one of the steps that Microsoft is taking to strengthening its foothold in China. Microsoft’s flagship software is available in 190 markets around the world – but it just got a big boost in China through a government alliance. C&M Information Technologies’ role will be that of “exclusive licensor” of Windows 10.
The Chinese government is also benefiting from this partnership.
The original partnership was announced in September and involved a regionalised version of Windows 10 for consumers, running Baidu as its primary search engine instead of Bing.
It’s been a year since Windows 8 was banned on government computers in China, but even so, Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) is not relenting on its push for grace from authorities. Windows 10 will also feature MS Office Touch Apps.
This new operating system by Microsoft was released earlier this summer. It manages several research institutes and over 180 commercial subsidiaries that offer technology products to state-run companies and government agencies.
A small update in June: According to reports, there will be a small update earlier in 2016 that will include a new Skype app, extensions for Microsoft Edge, and various other smaller – but essential – changes. The software maker now plans to regularly update the operating system, alongside the PC version of Windows 10.
“First of all, China is a huge market”.

It’s not clear if that means Microsoft’s anti-malware program Windows Defender will be set aside for whatever is selected by the government.
