It is important to point towards the fact that the agency has reported five people who have reported sick in the new outbreak. Twenty of those patients had symptoms serious enough that they had to be hospitalized.

Chipotle’s stock took a beating Monday in the wake of news that the restaurant chain has been linked to a second outbreak of E. coli, just weeks after dozens of its diners reported becoming sickened by a rare strain of the bacteria.
A Chipotle spokesman told CNBC that the company is confident that it is improving.
On Monday the Journal-World contacted managers at the three Chipotle restaurants in Lawrence, and all said they had not had any reports of customers getting sick from eating E. coli-contaminated food. All said they ate at a Chipotle in the week before becoming ill.

According to the CDC, evidence suggests that rotisserie chicken salad made and sold in Costo Wholesale stores in several states was the likely source of the outbreak.
“We are in the process of implementing reassessed programs including high-resolution testing of ingredients”, Chipotle said in an emailed statement on Monday.
An institutional investor recently raised its position in Chipotle Mexican Grill stock. Of those five cases, all five reported eating at Chipotle before falling ill. These cases are now being examined separately because it is “not known if these infections are related to the larger, previously reported outbreak”, the CDC says. The company also is improving internal training to ensure that all employees are able to maintain food safety standards.
WHAT’S NOTABLE: Maxim analyst Stephen Anderson released research notes on two companies he believes could benefit from the E. coli and norovirus outbreaks at Chipotle – Panera Bread (PNRA – Get Report) and Zoe’s Kitchen (ZOES – Get Report). No single food item has been identified as a source of illness.
