In the Adirondack Mountain village of Lake Placid, New York, home of the 1980 Winter Olympics, free golf was added to the list of holiday activities, and snow was trucked in so that people could go sledding.
The normal high for Christmas Eve in Charleston is 60 degrees. The high temperature of 65 degrees, forecast by Accuweather, was achieved by 1 p.m.

Daytime temperatures in the region won’t vary much from the 50s to 60s into the weekend and the overnight low will be in the lower 40s and could sink into the mid 30s in the metro area valleys Sunday night, Seto said.
