The military said the pair of attackers stabbed the soldier at a gas station near the Hawara crossing, south of Nablus. Another Israeli soldier was accidentally shot and lightly wounded.

The incident is the latest in three months of violence.
The attempted car-ramming came shortly after a Palestinian was killed in clashes with Israeli forces near the border between Israel and the Gaza Strip, said a spokesman for the Palestinian health ministry of the Hamas-ruled coastal enclave.
Israel says the unrelenting violence is fanned by a Palestinian campaign of lies and incitement.
