The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency earlier said it had confirmed 10 deaths from continuing storms which first moved through the state on Wednesday (local time).
Those with flights through Dallas, St. Louis, Indianapolis and New Orleans should expect delays, according to AccuWeather.
At 7 a.m., officials in both Garland and Rowlett will hold press conferences updating the situation in each of those cities. Tornadoes are possible, and residents are asked to remain alert. Flash flooding closed roads across Alabama and trapped motorists in rapidly rising waters.
The man and a child were swept away by the flooding, the report added, and the child was later found safe at a neighbor’s home.
Afterward, they left the house and sought shelter. Rainfall amounts through Monday could range from 2 to 4 inches over southeast Arkansas and 5 to 8 inches across the northwest half of the state, forecasters said.
The tiny, flood-prone Alabama town was underwater in 1929, which led to the constructions of levees for protection.
Mississippi Governor Phil Bryant and Georgia counterpart Nathan Deal also declared states of emergency in counties affected by the weather. There were no injuries and the evacuations were just precautionary, officials confirmed to The Weather Channel.

Images uploaded to social media showed a massive tornado near Rowlett and at least one destroyed structure. Saturday night’s storms were the latest in a string of unusual weather events that have disrupted Christmas week.
