Kubiak: Osweiler’s eye better, Manning has good week
A torn plantar fascia has sidelined Manning since the third quarter of the November 15 loss to Kansas City.

Calling it “a hiccup”, the Broncos then altered Manning’s rehab program for this week, as they returned him to the program he was following before he had rejoined the team on the practice field last week. He was ruled out against the Steelers. “That’s what I’m doing right now”, said Brock Osweiler, Denver Broncos quarterback.
“I need to shut up”, Kubiak told reporters regarding the reaction to his description of the session as “big”.
Kubiak watched video of Manning’s workouts, but he set off a firestorm Thursday when he offhandedly mentioned he’d witness Manning’s “big workout on Saturday”.
“It’s unreal, that’s what it is”, Osweiler said Wednesday.
Osweiler started strong but finished poorly Sunday against the Steelers, a 34-27 loss that saw the Broncos fall to 10-4. “I’m going to have him working inside because I think that’s what’s best”. “It came on yesterday”. Oddly, those same critics haven’t locked in on Osweiler, who’s posting a lower yards-per-completion output (6.7) over his six starts than Manning did (6.8).
“Watching that kid play, I mean, he’s something else, does it all day, plays extremely hard the entire game”, Kubiak said. If the Denver Broncos hope to improve their seeding in the AFC’s playoff race, they must show improvement on the offensive end. Vernon Davis and Demaryius Thomas had crucial drops the last two weeks, and wins in either of those games would’ve improved Denver’s playoff chances.
When it was suggested Monday that Davis might have flinched, Kubiak replied, “You’re going to get hit in this business every time you catch the ball”.
Asked if he could say Osweiler would start next week against San Diego, Kubiak replied, “Brock is our starter moving forward and we’re trying to get Peyton healthy”.

However, the Broncos have now lost two straight and there are scenarios where the team could entirely miss the playoffs, so more pressure than ever now rests on Osweiler’s shoulders.
