Here’s what Steve Harvey had to say on Twitter: “I want to apologize emphatically to Miss Philippines and Miss Colombia”.
A quick turnaround saw the crown being popped onto contestant Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach’s head while Steve hung his head in shame.
“I’d like to apologize wholeheartedly to Miss Colombia & Miss Philippines for my huge mistake”.
Colombia’s president said Monday he was shocked when Miss Colombia won and then immediately lost the Miss Universe crown, and said as far as he was concerned she remained the victor. It was an unprecedented moment in pageant history, and all parties are feeling the mistake in some way.
Germany refused to explain more about her previous statement, but added, “We really like Colombia and we’re really happy for her”.
Television personality Steve Harvey hosts the 2015 Miss Universe Pageant at The Axis at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino on December 20, 2015 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Despite the devastating blow, Miss Columbia tried to keep her spirits up. Wurtzbach said that she tried to approach Gutierrez onstage afterwards, but the Colombian was crying and surrounded by a crowd of women. “I’m happy for all that I did for becoming this dream”.
He wrote: “I had the chance to apologize to Miss Philippines and I’m thankful. Thank you for voting for me”.
Miss Philippines was then declared the victor.
“Still the queen”, the newlywed captioned the snap, alongside a flower emoji.
Sarah-Lorraine Riek says that she is upset of the results of Miss Universe 2015.
But it’s not the first time a wrong victor has been announced.
