Kane, who has scored eight times in 16 Premier League games for Spurs this season, was limited to long-range efforts on Rob Elliot’s goal as Newcastle kept Tottenham’s danger-man quiet.
Newcastle striker Aleksandar Mitrovic has revealed he was “angry” during the weekend win over Tottenham after spending the previous two matches on the bench, and that inspired him to prove a point in the 2-1 win over Spurs at White Hart Lane.
The visitors managed just one shot to Tottenham’s 11 in the first half, but were resolute in their defensive duties and scored from half of their shots on target overall…
“It has been the story for us in the last couple of seasons but there is a difference in this team”. We have talented players and they know how to win. Last season Spurs lost at home to West Brom, Newcastle, Stoke and Aston Villa.
“It’s taken us two weeks to get that back, We have had glimpses of it and threatened to do it right on occasions but the character was brilliant today”.
The 21-year-old’s passion has endeared himself to supporters at Newcastle, but he will need to start hitting the back of the net more frequently if he is to get back in the team.
“You know at Newcastle you’re only two days away from another crisis, so we will keep our feet on the ground”.
Ayoze Perez was thrilled to fire Newcastle United out of the Premier League’s relegation zone yesterday.
“To lose a game like this is very painful”.
Mitrovic, who has scored four goals since his move from Anderlecht, said: “We were under a lot of pressure after two bad results and we were disappointed because we know we have the quality to play good football and to be in the top ten”.
“We are very disappointed in the dressing room”.
“We are a tough team to beat but I think we have to learn how to kill games”.

England midfielder Dele Alli was twice let down by his control in the area when picked out by a fine chipped pass as Tottenham made most of the running. “They made it hard for us but we have to break them down”, Dier told his club’s official website.
