Hit hard by the Supreme Court ban on registration of vehicles above 2,000 cc, German luxury carmaker Mercedes-Benz today said it will impact its future investments in India and will lead to job losses.

Further, the apex court ordered that all taxis in Delhi will have to be converted to CNG by March 31 next year.
The SC bench headed by Chief Justice TS Thakur also banned the entry of trucks registered before 2005 into the city and hiked up by 100% the Green cess levied on commercial vehicles entering Delhi.
The court also doubled an environment tax on all commercial trucks entering Delhi, and said it would consider an environment congestion charge on all diesel vehicles when it meets again in the new year.
The bench ordered the enforcement of all Central pollution control norms at construction sites and banned the burning of solid waste.
If one goes through the imposed ban, there will not be new registration of Vehicles like Toyota’s Innova, Mitsubishi Pajero, Mahindra & Mahindra’s Scorpio, Tata Sumo, Tata Safari until 31st of March 2016. Some have chosen to register their vehicles outside Delhi in NCR regions, while many are asking for cancellation of the booking of diesel cars.
Shares of automaker Mahindra & Mahindra – whose entire portfolio is diesel vehicles – fell sharply after the ruling and were still down 4.4 per cent at midday.
The green panel, however, said that a similar matter was scheduled for hearing in Supreme Court so it will not be proper for it to pass any directions.
Days before the Delhi government’s order, the Delhi High Court had remarked that living in the city was akin to living in a gas chamber, and asked the Centre and the state government to take comprehensive steps to tackle the issue.
Delhi is considered to have some of the most polluted air in the world, as measured by levels of tiny particles that can find their way deep in the lungs and that cause lasting health problems. Both have diesel engines larger than 2 litres.
