Sandra Bland jail death: No Indictments, But “It’s Not Over”
Sandra Bland will not get justice.

Bland was taken in handcuffs to the county jail in nearby Hempstead, about 50 miles northwest of Houston, and remained there when she couldn’t raise about $500 for bail.
The case is not over, howevrer.
A woman holds a poster bearing the portrait of Sandra Bland, a 28-year-old black woman who killed herself in a Texas jail cell on July 13th, during a Michael Brown memorial rally on Union Square August 9, 2015 in NY.
Before the grand jury came to a decision, Bland’s family in Chicago criticized the grand jury system in Texas because testimony isn’t open to the public. An initial autopsy conducted by the Harris County Medical Examiner found no evidence of a violent struggle, and ruled the death a suicide.
In August, Bland’s family filed an unlawful death suit against Encinia and several other members of the Waller County Sheriff’s office.
“We would like very much to know what in the heck they’re doing, who they’re targeting and if it has anything to do with Sandy and her circumstances”, Mr. Lambert said.
The Walter County grand jury shared their decision after 11 hours of deliberations on Monday.
Breitbart Texas reported in August that Sandra Bland’s mother filed a federal civil rights lawsuit on behalf of herself and Bland’s estate.
Hillary Clinton, the Democratic frontrunner, has called her death “heartbreaking” and said it is an example of how the country must face “hard truths about race”.
The discovery of Bland’s body in her cell three days later with a trash bag around her neck raised suspicions of racist treatment.
Some who watched the video expressed that Bland should have just done what the officer said, even if his cigarette request wasn’t in his scope.
Reed-Veal said prosecutors have not sought to interview Bland’s relatives about her death last summer. It is due to go to trial in late January 2017.
Jordan concluded, “The main thing is the case is not over and we will return in January to consider the remaining issues”.
Bland’s mother, Geneva Reed-Veal, told reporters that the deck wa stacked against her daughter.
“The grand jury has looked at all the evidence and found no evidence of murder”, he said. Authorities contend the stop became confrontational and a video of her arrest shows a state trooper kneeling on top of her as she is facedown on the ground.
Officials previously concluded Bland’s autopsy showed no evidence of homicide. That officer, Brian Encinia, had been suspended for violating the state Department of Public Safety’s courtesy policy after Bland’s death garnered national media attention.

“Whether you like it or not, the Supreme Court has made it clear police are in charge at a traffic stop, and they can make anybody get out of the vehicle – driver or passenger – for no reason whatsoever”, she said.
