Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi will appear in the trial court here on December 19 in connection with BJP leader Subramanian Swamy’s complaint in the National Herald case.

The Delhi High Court on Monday dismissed the plea of the Gandhis to quash the summons issued to them by a trial court on Swamy’s complaint regarding the acquisition of National Herald newspaper.

Senior leader and advocate Abhishek Singhvi, who represented the Gandhis in court, steered clear of questions whether they will apply for bail.

The Congress has also invited its chief ministers and other state leaders and might lead a march in the city on that day, the reports added.

Directing his censure towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Congress Vice President Gandhi said, “We talk about development, bullet trains, and changing the country, but no one cares about the cause of poor people and their future”. Congress MPs have been asked to gather at the party headquarters on Saturday ahead of the appearance of the Gandhis in the court as a measure of solidarity.

The Congress will discuss issues like the Goods and Services Tax (GST) Bill, the National Herald case, law and order situation in Punjab, the CBI raid at the Delhi Secretariat and many other issues.
