Some Russian strikes “seem to have attacked military objectives and civilian objects without distinction, or caused disproportionate harm to civilians when striking military targets”, Amnesty said in the report.
Amnesty International reported that Russian air strikes in Syria have killed hundreds of civilians and destroyed residential areas of the country, trying to prove there is evidence of violations of the international law.
“We have documented, in detail, six attacks”, Anna Neistat, Amnesty International’s Senior Director of Research told RFI. As an ally to Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, Russia deems both the Islamic State and rebel groups opposing Assad as “terrorists”.

“Incidentally, some of these vehicles have got into Syria from the United States territory, which has already been proved”, the Russian Defense Ministry spokesman said. “We’ve seen with earlier conflicts in Chechnya and Afghanistan, that Russian forces have a track record of unleashing bad waves of indiscriminate attacks in residential areas”.

Yesterday, the Turkish Prime Minister condemned a suspected Russian attack that killed scores of people in the city of Idlib on Sunday. A single cluster bomb may hold hundreds of submunitions.
