Rock and Roll Hall of Fame: NWA, Cheap Trick, Chicago Inducted
The 2016 inductees were chosen by more than 800 voters of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation.

As previously reported, Miller will be inducted into the Rock Hall alongside Chicago, Cheap Trick, Deep Purple and rap group N.W.A.
“When we started N.W.A, I couldn’t have imagined this”, Dr. Dre told Rolling Stone. The group will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame next year.
As for future hip-hop inductees, you’d be wise to bet big on 2Pac, Biggie, Jay Z, Nas, Eminem, Wu-Tang Clan and Outkast.
“Well, how about Deep Purple doing “I Want You to Want Me” with Chicago’s horns and Steve Miller doing the solo and N.W.A turning it into the “Walk This Way” Aerosmith combo?” The induction ceremony will be held on April 8 in Brooklyn’s Barclays Center with HBO televising the event later that spring.
Two other classic rock juggernauts, Deep Purple and Steve Miller, have been eligible for the Rock Hall for years and are finally getting their dues in the class of 2016.
Next year’s induction ceremony goes down 4/8 in NY. Cutting the nominating committee by more than a half may have created freer discussions, according to the Hall of Fame’s CEO Joel Peresman. We’re extremely excited and happy for that.
“I think that just like any new music, [hip-hop] borrows from the music that’s already there”, he said.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has announced its official 2015 inductee list and, despite a push for more diversity in fan voting and nominations, this year’s list is dominated by older, White classic rock bands. “Of course I couldn’t have done it without any of them“. Yes and other prog rock groups like Emerson, Lake and Palmer, King Crimson, and The Moody Blues, have yet to make it into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, though each of these bands has made lasting contributions to rock music. “Chicago’s early line-up created such an unmistakable sound and their inclusion into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is not only well-deserved, but an honour that has been overlooked”.
