Van Gaal hints on Man United exit
Louis van Gaal’s side lost 2-0 to Stoke City on Saturday to extend their current run to four defeats in a row in all competitions – their worst such sequence in a single season since 1961.

Memphis Depay’s diving backward header allowed Bojan Krkic to put Stoke in front and Marko Arnautovic powered in a second goal from outside the penalty area. “I am the one who wants to speak first with the board of Manchester United and with my members of staff and players”.
Van Gaal had described the game as “must-win”, but said that “the pressure” upon himself and the team, as well as swirling wind inside the stadium, meant that his players “don’t dare to play football”.
It was a hapless first-half performance and Van Gaal questioned why his players “don’t dare to play football”.
“I said at half-time we had nothing to lose and we coped better after that”, he continued.
“It is very hard as I’m also part of four losses and I have to cope with that and I have to manage that. More important is that my players have to perform”.
When asked if he would in-charge of Manchester United’s next game at Chelsea, he had said: “You will have to wait and see, but I think so”.
“It is not always the club that has to fire or sack me”, he said during a post-match news conference (via BBC).
Speculation swirled around Old Trafford earlier this week that Van Gaal was about to be sacked and replaced by Jose Mourinho.
– Chelsea have inflicted more defeats over Manchester United in the Premier League than any other club (16).
“I know a lot of people have their doubts but the bottom line is he is one of the best managers in the world”.
“You don’t understand my message”, he said.
But Van Gaal has called on his side to return to their winning ways against Chelsea and believes United must stand by the principles the former Barcelona manager has implemented at Old Trafford.
“Certainly first half I thought we were excellent and it would have taken a very good team to stay with us”.
Van Gaal had left captain Wayne Rooney out of his starting line-up and by the time the England striker was introduced as a second-half substitute United were in deep trouble.

Chelsea’s hopes of winning on the road for only the second time in the league this season were dealt a blow when Diego Costa picked up a fifth booking of the campaign against Watford, ruling him out of the United game.
