Marcus Mariota Out for the Season With MCL Sprain, Reports Say
Reports on Monday confirmed that Mariota won’t play in the Tennessee Titans’ last two games. Assuming his season is indeed over, it ends with 2,818 yards, 19 passing touchdowns and 10 interceptions in 12 games.

Mariota missed two games in October due to an MCL sprain in his left knee after an illegal hit by Miami’s Olivier Vernon.
-With Marcus Mariota definitely out this week, the Titans will turn to backup Zach Mettenberger, who will start for the ninth time in his young National Football League career.
That continues a pattern of minor knee injuries from college, as Mariota suffered an MCL sprain during his sophomore year at Oregon.
With LeGarrette Blount and Dion Lewis on injured reserve, the expectation was that the Patriots would turn to Brandon Bolden and James White to carry a heavier load in the running game.
Marcus Mariota’s rookie season may have ended Sunday in New England.
With two weeks left, there’s still plenty of time for shuffling of the order, but no one has a better chance than Tennessee.
Mettenberger threw for 242 yards with two touchdowns but was intercepted twice in the fourth quarter in New England. However, instead of taking the low road and forcing Mariota onto the field like some coaches did earlier this year for the Titans, he is wisely protecting the Titans rookie quarterback.
The lack of continuity is never a good thing for a quarterback, but Mariota has proven he possesses the smarts, ability and motivation to adjust and improve. When the field goal unit came on, the Titans training staff was looking at Mariota’s right knee. There have been some things I know he’d like to take back and he’s got to quit doing, trying to force some of the deeper throws when they’re not there.
Walker had a 7-yard catch in the third quarter and then a 57-yard rumble down the right sideline with 7 minutes left in the game. Wilson became the first quarterback with three or more TD passes and no interceptions in five straight games. The thinking was that it was best to keep him engaged and involved in practices even if he was unable to play.
Delanie Walker caught two passes, both for touchdowns, for 64 yards for Tennessee.
-PASS DEFENSE: C-minus. They did a surprisingly decent job on Rob Gronkowski, who had five catches for 54 yards and a score.

“We certainly will not – if there are any issues, if we have any concerns, as we did (Sunday) – we would not play him”, Mularkey said.
